Pre-School Manager
Gateway - Brockhurst
Salary: tbc

Purpose of the Job: To provide safe, high quality education and care for Pre-school children. To ensure the fulfilment of legal, statutory and setting obligations are followed and met. To lead and manage staff on a day-to-day basis to contribute to and implement Pre-School policies


Essential criteria

  1. Proven experience of working in a Pre-school setting in a managerial/supervisory position.
  2. Level 3 early years education and childcare qualification or equivalent, and a commitment to obtaining a level 4 and above qualification.
  3. Sound understanding of child development, and of children’s needs.
  4. Ability to plan and implement a Pre-school curriculum, taking into account the SEN Code of Practice, child protection procedures and equal opportunities’ considerations.
  5. Demonstrable and detailed knowledge of current legislation relevant to the early years.
  6. Ability to work with parents and families to encourage their involvement.
  7. Ability to effectively market the Pre-school to maximise occupancy levels and fee income.
  8. Ability to effectively lead and manage a team of adults, including conducting performance management processes e.g. induction, supervision meetings, appraisals and setting objectives. (with support from another manager when needed)
  9. Commitment to equal opportunities and an understanding of equality and diversity issues.
  10.  Ability to write clear reports.



Hours: 38.5 hours term time only

Monday            7.30am to 4.00pm

Tuesday          8.00am to 4.00pm

Wednesday     8.00am to 4.00pm

Thursday         8.00am to 4.00pm

Friday              8.00am to 4.30pm

Deputy Manager
Gateway - Brockhurst
Salary: tbc

Purpose of the Job:

To support the Manager with the day to day running of the pre-school

To manage the pre-school in the absence of the Manager

To support staff in delivering practice in line with policies and procedures

To work alongside the Manager to ensure and effective Key Person system is in place and partnership with the parents is strong

To act as a key person to small group of children

To attend staff meetings

To attend Training course to keep up to date with good practice in Early Years provision.


Qualifications: Level 3 in Early Years Education and a commitment to obtaining a Level 4.

Child Protection

Food and Hygiene



Team Player with essential people skills

Enthusiastic with a good sense of humour and Passion for Early Years Practice

Sound knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage

Commitment to train further


Some experience in a managerial/supervisory position would be advantageous but not essential


Hours: 35 hours term time only

Monday            7.30am to 3.00pm

Tuesday          8.30am to 3.30pm

Wednesday     8.30am to 3.30pm

Thursday         8.00am to 4.00pm

Friday              8.00am to 4.00pm
